PULSE – A Novel

PULSE – A tale of greed and amour and high finance on the world stage, as players vie for control of this unique perfume.

Mona Burbank, international film star, owns the formula for PULSE, a rare perfume with a secret time release. It was given to her in Cannes ten years before by Jean-Pierre Delain, a chemist with whom she had a brief affair. Swifty Sam McDonald cajoles the secret of PULSE from Mona and convinces her to let him find financing to manufacture and market it. He contacts Mark LaSalle, Chicago investment counselor, burned by Swifty in past dealings, but lured by his glowing profit picture. Eldon Howard, a major power, signs on too, with a private agenda and big financial problems. His wife Adele is a bizarre sidebar. Janna Thurwood, Mark’s live-in lover, is attracted to Swifty, and positions herself to be a player in the PULSE deal.

Intermingled with high romance and drama in major world capitals, are Eldon Howard’s lawsuit to take over PULSE, the underhanded tactics of Eldon and both sets of lawyers, and Swifty turning from villain to hero in Mark’s mind. Mark’s Uncle Mort offers another bizarre twist giving advice from beyond the grave. At the beginning and end, a mysterious jogger lures Mark into following her, luring him like the scent of PULSE.
